Mold fungus is heterotrophic live organisms that are reproduced by spores. They are one of the most difficult microorganisms to fight against in field conditions. They can survive from harsh conditions by forming spores and when the conditions are suitable they are again active.

The mold fungus contamination in feed comes from harvest area and silos. Molds that are field originated generally Fusariumun (they cause mycotoxin contaminations Zearelanon, DON, T-2 Toxin, Vomitoxin, Trikotesen and Fumonisin) are frequently seen in feed raw material. Mold originated from Silo are usually Aspergillus and penicilium (causing mycotoxin contaminations; Aflatoxin and Ochratoxin).

In the basis of the struggle against mold lies in a dry harvest time and again in a dry storing environment under suitable conditions. Under today’s conditions because of the high humidity content of products that were harvested and insufficient silo conditions, it is an inevitable situation for feed raw material and feed of having a high level of contaminated mold and secondary metabolites with mycotoxin.


To minimize the economic loss that come from mold modern chemical farming in today, an option that is consulted is to treat and raw materials organic acids feed with BACOCİD, which is a production of profound research and severe field experience, supplies an economic benefit that farmers need.


Organic Acids and Mold Preventing Effects:
The effects of organic acids on poultry may only be achieved if adequate quantities of to the feed forms are homogenously. For this aim, for many years, propionic acid in BACOCİD is known as the most effective protector against mold. Higgins and Brinkhaus, (1999), have declared that propionic acid among organic acids suppresses the development of all molds originated from silo and fields.

Another characteristic of organic acids is that they can provide an acidic environment by lowering the PH in the digestive track. This way, the developments of patogene microorganisms are prevented. Organic acids on the digestive system increase the bioavailability of amino acids, protein, and minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and zinc.
